Poem by Lauriel Gray

Blue bird Blue bird. Why do you hate Red?

Do you really wanna see him dead?

Red bird Red bird. Why do you hate blue? Is

it really because he hates you too?

Birds. Birds. Birds. Why can’t we fly?

Without the limiting question; how high?

Birds. Birds. Birds. Why don’t you sing? If

not only to impress the female wings.

Birds birds birds. Please stop self-hate. Red

and Blue are beautiful. Please

Stop this debate.

Birds. Please flock together. In any and all kinds of weather.

Eggs have hatched, cracked, now back to you.

Blue bird. Red bird. I love you too.
