Seasons

I knew spring was here when the first shower came

The pits and patters of the drops

That created the biggest puddles to splash—

I knew summer was here when the sun began to burn

The waves of heat that penetrated my vision

The longer days that allowed me to be out late—

I knew fall was here when the leaves began to change

As they reached the ground, they began to have a crunch

And so they became my new stepping stones—

I Knew winter was here when my face began to cold

The snow that became a perfected reflector for the sun

The winds that soared, letting you know that something new had come.

Every season, the hints have guided me to understand the changes

I know when spring, summer, fall, and winter come

I know that they change and all have their times

As the days grow longer, I wish they would be shorter

As the days become warmer, I wish they would become colder

As the leave began to fall, I wished they would grow

Every season, I wish for something new, taking for granted what I have.
