How the Past Changes by Kameron Harris

Intolerance sees the difference, as a child being bad,
broken from the pain of my past,
lost most of the opportunities I had,
can’t seem to move on very fast, and
looking in the mirror — scared in my own skin.
Scared of what people will do to me.
I can’t get away from where I’ve been.
The light comes to shine on thee and
Boom! The world changes everything.
Feeling great, like I’m at the peak,
voice soaring as I can sing,
but now you choose not to speak.

No Longer will I be alone.
Today this will finally feel like home.
